Nippon Kayaku and Tokio Marine & Nichido will verify “Safety systems for drone” and aim at establishing “A better drone insurance”
Nippon Kayaku Co., Ltd (HQ: Tokyo, President: Mr. Atsuhiro Wakumoto) and Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co., Ltd. (HQ: Tokyo, President: Mr. Shinichi Hirose) joined “Social Demonstration Project for Promoting Practical Use of Drone in Reiwa 5th” conducted by Hyogo prefecture and New Industry Research Organization (“NIRO”) and started verifying the effect of “PARASAFE®”, the safety systems for drone and aiming at establishing better drone insurance.
About “the Social Demonstration Project for Promoting Practical Use of Drone”
“The Social Demonstration Project for Promoting Practical Use of drone”, conducted by Hyogo prefecture and New Industry Research Organization (“NIRO”) aims at establishing new business model and social practical use utilizing drone and others within Hyogo prefecture, supporting private companies’ commercial demonstration test which contributes to solution of social challenges in the field having a high degree of public nature in order to create next generation industries in Hyogo prefecture and achieve more safe and secure life of the people in Hyogo.
In Reiwa 5’s “Social Demonstration Project for Promoting Practical Use of Drone”, GOFLY Inc. (HQ: Tokyo, President: Jyunichi Kuroda) ‘s “Promotion of social practical use of drone through safety device and insurance” is adopted as its business theme, and Nippon Kayaku and Tokio Marine & Nichido will join this project.

Nippon Kayaku’ｓpurpose and content of working for this project
In this project, we are aiming at developing an environment that is easy to utilize drones from the point of “Risk management”, using safety device of drone and insurance. By testing the safety device from the view of operating company and insurance company and jointly analyzing this test data and data obtained by Nippon Kayaku until now, we aim at developing an environment easier to utilize drones from the point of Risk management. To verify the safety device, we conducted “Drone drop Test” and “Drop simulation using CAE technology”.
About “PARASAFE®︎”, the safety device for drone
“PARASAFE®︎”, the emergency parachute system for commercial drone, is a device which makes a drone to descend safely in unexpected conditions by activating built-in pyrotechnic and injecting and unfolding parachute instantly.
Nippon Kayaku globally develops, manufactures and markets automotive safety parts such as inflators for Air Bags and Gas Generators for Seatbelt Pretensioners and develops “PARASAFE®︎” by applying the pyrotechnic technology cultivated in this field. Industrial design of PARASAFE®︎ in Japan is registered. Appling for patent.
About the drone insurance （Comprehensive insurance for industrial unmanned helicopter）
This is an insurance which will compensate comprehensively on ”Risks relating to airframe” and “Risks relating to legal compensation liabilities to third parties”. In comprehensive movable property insurance, which covers “Risks relating to airflame”, compensates damage risks and theft risks of airframe itself. In facility compensation liability insurance, “Risks on legal compensation liability to third party” regarding bodily injury or property damage in accidents are covered.
